CARRIE'S MEMORIAL
Carrie was very generous and caring. She was also a loyal friend and I got to talk to her a lot and we would talk about what had happened in her life at John Reed. She would also tell me a lot of family stories and that was where Lisa came in to help explain to me what Carrie was saying was happening. Carrie was so outgoing and eager to move in to the Crumley apartment before her passing. Before going home to John Reed she would always tell us, "I love you guys." And that is the memory that I will always have stand out to me and in my heart. ~Justin
Carrie was an inspiration. She knew she had a long road to hoe, but she never gave up. She had the heart of a lion and she was funny. She was my "peanut butter buddy". I will never forget each time it was her birthday, she had them make her a no-sugar peanut butter pie and she always sent me a piece. One year she was cutting me a piece and dropped the whole pie on the floor and didn't get any for herself. It made me feel quite quilty, but she laughed about it. She will be greatly missed by me. We always had each other's back. ~Trish
Carrie was an inspiration to me. She was so sweet and nice. I know I will miss her terribly. I knew Carrie the whole time I have been at Crumley. She has been a good friend to me, but I know that she is in a better place than here with me. ~Jeff
A FRIEND - a poem by Randy
Carrie was a very good friend of mine.
Anytime I needed a friend
She was always there.
But a lot of people think that now she is gone
They should be sad.
But I see it as a happy time.
No more pain, no more wheelchair.
She will be made whole
Carrie will be complete again.
And she is with her son whom she loved.
Now she is spending eternity with him
And making him laugh and smile.
GOD BE WITH CARRIES FAMILY DRAW THEM CLOESTO YOU JUSTIN....
1 THING I WAS NODICED ABOUT HER IS CARRIE COULD TELL IT LIKE IT WAS!Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Nashville
I went to the CMA fest in Nashville, TN and met alot of stars, but I knew one in particular star in the making. The star in the making is a Curb Records recording artist, Ashley Gearing. We talked a few minuets before her show set at 4:00 P.M. , but I also got to know other country stars such as Steel Magnolias and Jay Collins written songs and now he is trying to get in the music business himself. Sure it was hot all week in Nashville, but we survived the 95 degree heat index.

Poems
Here is some poetry by Amanda
AN OPEN HEART
Come to the Lord with an open heart,
Worship him and do your part,
Spread out your arms and raise them high,
Take a glance at the beautiful sky,
Let us go and praise our king,
We shall celebrate and we shall sing,
Precious gifts to him we'll bring.
I COME TO THE LORD
I come to the Lord and I know he excepts my best,
He rescues my heart and he gives me rest,
People come by many different types,
If you dare to touch Jesus' stripes
you will propably not heat any gripes,
But be aware that if you drift apart,
God will no longer protect your heart,
Come out and see God's shining sun,
Heavenly life has just begun.

VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY IN A BOX
On Thursday, the Crumley Helping Others OT Project Group met to create a Valentine's Day Party in a Box to give to the Kitchen of Hope in Kingsport. Here is Jerry holding the box he decorated for us to put the party items in.
We made heart garlands out of stapled paper strips threaded through yarn for them to hang on their walls.
We made some felt LOVE banners.
We created cards to put on the tables for people to enjoy.
Kym made a unique heart wreath out of a hanger, plastic bags, felt scraps and yarn.
We filled the box with the decorations. June helped us make brownies, cakes and decorate cookies to send with the decorations to the Kitchen of Hope and she delivered the box for us.

Wishful Waiting
FEBRUARY PROJECT
Crumley House has designated helping homeless individuals and families as their "Helping Others" group for February. We brainstormed as a group and lots of great ideas were shared. Putting the ideas together, we decided that we would like to create a "Valentine's Day Party in a Box" to send to the Kitchen of Hope in Kingsport. June and Jerry have contacts there and can deliver the box for us. We will make the items for the box next Thursday. If anyone has any ideas of things we could make to put in the box, please add them to the comments section. We love all ideas!
CARDS AND BOOKMARKS FOR SENIORS
We finished up the cards and bookmarks yesterday and decided that we wanted to send half of them to the John Reed Nursing Home and the other half to the Senior Citizen's Center in Jonesborough. Carrie offered to take them to John Reed and Jil took them to the Senior's Center. The Senior's Center was very happy to receive them and told Jil that Crumley and the Senior's Center should try to schedule a picnic together when the weather gets nicer! This was a very successful first month of the Helping Others project.

JANUARY PROJECT
Due to the rough weather we have been having, we have gotten a little behind in our Helping Others project for January. We made cards and bookmarks last Thursday and will finish them up next week, before starting on our February project which will be geared for helping the homeless and homeless families. Our next step is going to be signing the cards and choosing who we will send them to in the community.

JANUARY
For the month of January, Crumley House will be doing a project for senior citizens. We discussed the different things that we could do and decided to make greeting cards and bookmarks for seniors in nursing homes and senior citizen centers. Let us know if you have any other ideas.
