The Black Stallion
There was once a black stallion that a cowboy saw everyday he worked on the range. One day the cowboy thought he would break him and ride him. The cowboy watched him for about a week, and then decided to try and catch him. He succeeded, but the cowboy was not expecting the challenge that he faced when trying to break him for riding. One day the cowboy finally caught him and brought him home to his ranch. Every day the cowboy would go work the horse and try to get him broke to ride. One morning the cowboy finally realized, "Hey I can do this if I just go back and earn the horse's trust." It was a long hard fight, but he knew that he could do it so he went back to the old ways of doing things. The longer he worked with the horse, the more the cowboy realized that no matter how much he wanted to break him to ride, the horse may not want to be broke. If you try to break their spirit, it not only won't ride, but it will break their spirits. Some horses are meant to be free and not meant to be broke because every horse has a heart and a soul, but if you are a good enough cowboy you can break them to ride.
Great story with a meaningful metaphor. Thanks for posting this Randy!
